Level of Protection
In 2004, the FDA recognized the standards from the American National Standards Institute & Association of the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (ANSI/AAMI) PB70:2003, The standard describes the barrier protection levels of gowns and other protective apparel intended for use in health care facilities :
- Level 1: Minimal risk, to be used, for example, during basic care, standard isolation, a cover gown for visitors, or in a standard medical unit
- Level 2: Low risk, to be used, for example, during the blood draw, suturing, in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), or a pathology lab
- Level 3: Moderate risk, to be used, for example, during the arterial blood draw, inserting an intravenous (IV) line, in the Emergency Room, or for trauma cases
- Level 4: High risk, to be used, for example, during long, fluid intense procedures, surgery, when pathogen resistance is needed or infectious diseases are suspected (non-airborne)

EU Product Standards
Standard EN ISO 13688 specifies general performance requirements for size designation, ageing, compatibility and marking of protective clothing and the information to be supplied by the manufacturer with the protective clothing. The regulation further specifies the coveralls into 6 types.
- Type 1: Gas Tight Suits (EN 943 part 1) – Protects against liquid and gaseous chemicals.
- Type 2: Non-gas Tight Suits (EN 943 part 1) – Protects against liquid and gaseous chemicals.
- Type 3: Liquid Tight Suits. (EN 14605) – Protects against liquid chemicals for a limited period.
- Type 4: Spray Tight Suits (EN 14605) – Protects against liquid chemicals for a limited period.
- Type 5: Particulate suits (EN ISO 13982-1) – Protects against airborne dry particulates for a limited period.
- Type 6: Reduced Spray Tight Suits (EN 13034) – Protects against a light spray of liquid chemicals.
What We Can Make
Medtecs has been manufacturing various types of disposable coveralls for various kinds of protection levels.
- Type 3: Liquid Tight Suits. (EN 14605)

3-Ply Surgical Facemasks
Medtecs manufactures surgical face masks and medical procedure masks in 3-ply flat and fish-type styles. By using different material composition, we can offer face masks meeting the requirement of ASTM F2100 Level 1, 2, 3 or EN 14683 Type I, Type II, Type IIR. Three different sizes and multicolour options available.
3 Levels of ASTM Standards
American Society for Testing and Materials regulates the facemask standards. Here are the qualifications standards:
- Level 1: low barrier protection for general use for low-risk, nonsurgical procedures, and exams that do not involve aerosols, sprays, and fluids.
- Level 2: moderate barrier protection for low-to-moderate levels of aerosols, sprays, and fluids.
- Level 3: maximum barrier protection for any situation that has the potential for exposure to heavy levels of aerosols, sprays, and fluids
What We Can Make
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) refers to ASTM standards as the US endorsed standard for Medical Face Masks. ASTM F2100 specification outlines the performance requirements and test methods for medical face masks used in patient care and surgery. Material performance for medical face masks is determined by testing for bacterial filter efficiency, differential pressure, and sub-micron particulate efficiency. It also considers resistance to penetration by artificial blood and flammability.
- BFE (Bacterial Filtration Efficiency) ≥95%-98%
- PFE (Particle Filtration Efficiency) ≥95%-98%
- Delta P <5.0-6.0 mm H2O/cm^2
- Delta P <5.0-6.0 mm H2O/cm^2

KN95 Facemasks
KN95 facemasks are a type of respirators that meet specific Chinese standards. Our KN95 facemasks provide efficient filtration of harmful micro particulate and dust, with a sub-micron Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE) (%) of more than 95%. These masks provide excellent sealing and breathability.
What We Can Make
- Medtecs manufactures qualified KN95 respirators.
- Various KN95 with different colors & custom designs
- GB2626.2006 qualified product
Chinese standard GB2626.2006
KN95 refers to a performance rating according to the Chinese standard GB2626.2006. The requirements are generally the same as those of the European standard BSEN149.2001+A1:2009 FFP2 facemasks. The manufacturer declares products that meet the KN95 rating as compliant, but there is no independent certification of their quality.
- Filter Performance ≥ 95%
- Flow Rate =85L/Min
- Total Inward Leakage ⪬ 8%
- Inhalation Resistance ⪬ 350Pa
- Flow Rate =85L/Min
- Exhalation Resistance ⪬ 250Pa
- Depressurization to 0 Pa ≥ 20 sec
- Force Applied =-1180Pa
- Co2 clearance requirement⪬1%
What We Can Make
The CDC stated that while all respirators and masks provide some protection, properly fitting respirators offer the best protection. (Most people interchangeably use the terms “mask” or “respirator” interchangeably but when the CDC or medical professionals refer to “respirator,” it means specialized, fitted facial coverings such as N95s, KN95s, and KF94s. )

KF94 Medical Facemasks
KF94 style face masks aim to protect your respiratory system from harmful substances and infectious agents while providing extra room for breathing.
South Korean Standard
Since the outbreak, KF94 masks are becoming more popular. KF stands for Korean filter and 94 is the mask’s filtration efficiency. These masks can filter 94% of particles smaller than 0.3 microns according to South Korean standards.
- Filter Performance ≥ 94%
- Flow Rate =95L/Min
- Total Inward Leakage ⪬ 8%
- Inhalation Resistance ⪬ 70Pa (at 30L/min) ⪬ 240Pa (at 95L/min)
- Flow Rate =160L/Min
